Are you SHRM Certified??

    August 11, 2015

    Greetings HRSPGC Chapter Members!

SHRM has launched its new certification program, and HR professionals who hold an existing HR certification are now able to apply online for the new SHRM certification. The new SHRM credentials, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), are designed to address the roles of the HR professionals as they operate at the core of a global economy and ensure the alignment of organizational strategy with a high-performing workforce.

If you have earned an existing HR generalist certification (including: PHR, SPHR, GPHR, HRBP, HRMP and IPMA-CP) and are in good standing or you became certified by January 31, 2015, you are eligible for SHRM's new certification-at no cost-by completing the following three simple steps by December 31, 2015:

    • Document that your current certification is in good standing.
    • Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics.
    • Complete a brief online tutorial focusing on HR competencies.

You will not lose or have to give up any of your current credentials in order to obtain the new SHRM Certification. Once you complete this process, you will earn the new SHRM credential and begin a three-year SHRM recertification cycle. To start the process, go to SHRM's Online Tutorial Pathway.

We would also like to know if you are SHRM certified so that we can update our records; so please send me a quick email at, if you are currently certified or if you would like to be certified as we are looking into programs to assist you in becoming certified such as a study group.

Feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.
